Hello world!
My name is Carolyn Hansen. I am the wife of a good ol’ country boy, and the mother to two sweet, energetic boys. I love baking, cooking, reading, crafting, and playing the piano.

Welcome to a peek at my attempts at real food in real life.
I came across the idea of eating a real food diet through DaNelle Wolford over at Weed ’em and Reap. The more I read about the benefits of eating real food the more I liked what I saw. And it fit perfectly with our dreams of having a homestead. Being able to raise and eat our own real food. *sigh* Heaven.
We’ve only been trying to eat a real foods diet for the roughly the last two months. It has been easier than I thought it would be, but in other ways more difficult than I thought.
Because my Mom taught me how to cook, from scratch, while I was young I have always been one to cook a lot for my family. Making our favorite foods “real” foods hasn’t been that big of a deal. I just am learning to find substitutes, or home made versions, of the processed foods I used before. Some recipes/ingredients are easier than others. It’s all a learning process.
This is us in real life, on a real budget, eating real food.
I can’t promise a post every day, especially right at first. Life happens. Taking care of my two boys, ages 3 and 1.75, can take all my time and energy. Some days my biggest success is just getting everyone dressed, let alone cooking fantastic, blog worthy, meals every day. I am aiming to post at least twice a week. Hopefully on Tuesdays and Fridays.
